Over the weekend I went to a barbecue at a friend’s house, naturally this person is a member of Ei42 and has been for over a year. He’s just bought himself a very nice expensive new car and he was happily telling me how he got the best deal ever by using “Compare the Market.com”, nothing surprises me anymore so I simply asked him “what makes you think you got the best deal” his answer was that he had gone to compare the market and that they had shown him a list of deals and the difference between the most expensive and the cheapest was £160 and so he had jumped to the rather illogical conclusion that he had “saved” £160.

This is typical of what advertisers are trying to get us all to believe every time we see or hear an advertisement. The fact is there are lies, damn lies and statistics and this kind of conclusion jumping is proof that a mix of those together with a natural desire for a bargain means that we often jump to the wrong conclusion. My friend was wrong for a number of reasons. Firstly, he was not comparing like with like. If you went to Harrods and bought a Jar of Jam do you suppose it would be more expensive than Tesco own brand? Of course it would! So if Jam from Harrods cost £4.00 and jam from Tesco was 50p, have you saved £3.50? of course you haven’t, because you would not have bought Jam for £4.00 in the first place.

Do you suppose that Comparison sites are more interested in saving you money than making a profit?

How can so many comparison websites afford to spend Millions of pounds on TV advertising unless they are making HUGE profits?
How can they be making so much money?

The answer to this question is that they FOCUS on comparing products that will make them big commissions, Insurance, Mortgages, Loans, Credit Cards, Travel, Gas & Electricity, anything else is irrelevant to them. More importantly nothing is unique to these comparison websites. They ALL have the same products and services from the same people that you will find on Ei42 and so there is no way that you can get a better deal from a comparison website than you do from Ei42 when comparing like for like. Let me repeat that...

Here is why, let’s say you go to compare the market and find a great deal for your Car Insurance like my friend did with “Swinton Insurance” he used Compare The Market to order his policy from Swinton and Compare the Market kept ALL of the commission. If he had used his Ei42 shop to buy the same insurance then he would have got a rebate of £18.00 in effect making his insurance £18.00 cheaper than buying via Compare the Market.

All of this is not rocket science but it does require you all to look at the broader picture. As my old Granny used to say “if you look after the pennies the pounds will look after themselves” and all you have to do to make those pennies add up is to always use your Ei42 shop when you buy anything online.

How to Compare the Market and buy via your Ei42 shop
Let’s say you have just looked for the best deal on car insurance on one of the comparison websites and identified that Swinton have a great deal for you. Did you know that you can still buy that product or service via Ei42 and get a commission? Here’s how...

1. Identify the Product or service. In our example it is “Swinton Insurance”
2. Close your web browser completely. (not just the Tab)
3. Restart your web browser and go to your Ei42 shop
4. Search for the retailer or supplier. In our example it’s “Swinton Insurance”
5. Buy the product or service
Simples.....

Please note that not all products and services generate a commission but you have nothing to lose by trying. If there is a commission due you will automatically receive it and NOT the comparison website that you might have used.

Server Upgrade
Due to the huge growth in membership of Ei42 we are faced with the very real prospect that if we do not upgrade our server capacity soon then our service to you will not be able to meet the exceptionally high standards that we set ourselves. We host Ei42 on dedicated servers within the UK but in order to balance the load we are planning a full upgrade this Saturday 13th June. Not only is this an upgrade of server capacity it also involves a physical change of location and as a result there will be some down time which will be kept to a minimum.
The Bottom Line
Our team will start the upgrade this Saturday the 13th of June at 12:01am BST to ensure the minimum disruption to you all.

Congratulations – Is this You?
We always protect our members privacy so I cannot name any names but whilst reviewing the March statistics this week I noticed that there are many members who seem to have forgotten about Ei42, maybe they joined, did a little and forgot about it, maybe they are just busy with other things right now? Well, let me tell you that it’s time to wake up people!
There are dozens of examples like these 3, is one of them YOU? These people have not logged into their accounts since March so they are in for a shock when the payment run is processed this week.

Paid Advertising
For a long time now many members have been asking for clarification on how and where they can advertise the Ei42 opportunity. Our terms stated that no paid online advertising was allowed. After much soul searching and serious consideration I have decided to lift this restriction with immediate effect. Naturally there are some things that you should be made aware of before you rush out and spend your hard earned money on advertising. Some of these are from me personally, some are legal issues and some are just good to know.

Do not spend any money on advertising if you cannot afford to lose it. Advertising does not come with a money back guarantee.
Only advertise the Ei42 business opportunity not the shops on Ei42.
Before you start any campaign such as Google Ads make sure you read everything and understand how it works. Remember that reading and learning is free.
When advertising on the web at places such as Google, Yahoo, Microsoft you cannot and should not promote 3rd party brands. For example you would not be allowed to say...

“Get cashback at Tesco, Asda, PC World, Argos and earn money with Ei42”
The use of brand names in this way is not allowed and anyway it’s a really bad idea because you will simply find that people who are looking for those brands will just click your ads and waste all of your advertising budget by clicking your advert when all they really want is to visit Tesco.
Initially we are allowing bidding on our brand name ‘Ei42’ however you must not use the dispaly URL of Ei42.com, naturally we reserve the right to change this with the usual 30 days notice.
Henry Ford said a very wise thing about the money he spent on advertising, he said “I waste half of the money I spend on advertising – the trouble is I don’t know which half” this statement is as true today as it ever was, but with advertising on the likes of Google you can gain much more insight into what works and what doesn't than Mr Ford could ever have dreamed of.
Please Note: We are unable to offer any help and advice on how Google, Yahoo, Microsoft Ads or similar works. Every company involved has detailed explanations. As I mentioned above you simply need to be prepared to read and learn.

Having resisted the press babble about Twitter for almost 2 years we have been experimenting with how it might help us all with Ei42. I am aware that there are several Twitter groups but none of them are official. Next week I will announce our plans for the use of Twitter from Ei42 HQ.

April Payments Completed
Cheque, Bacs and Paypal processing is now complete and for those of you who reached the minimum payout of £20 in April you should have recived your payment. Whenever we process payments there are always a few members who we are unable to pay because we do not have a full UK postal address (including Postcode) on file. Please login to your admin areas and ensure that we have the correct details by clicking the ‘Account’ icon and updating your details if necessary so that we are able to pay you when a payment is due to you. Can I also remind you that we now offer payment direct to your bank account via BACS which is more secure, faster and FREE. If you choose payment by cheque we will deduct a payment processing fee of £1.00

At last I am pleased to report that Ei42 is now included on the DSA’s website as a 'prospective member'. In the case of the DSA ‘Prospective’ means that we have been elected to the DSA and are simply awaiting the compliance audit that precedes our transition to full membership. For those of you that use Ei42 as a business opportunity as well as a money saving tool I am sure you will see the huge benefits that this adds to Ei42 in terms of credibility. After the final audit when we move to Full DSA members we will be able to include the DSA and the governments OFT (Office of Fair Trading) logos on Ei42.

UK Growth Steps up a Gear

Membership in the UK more than doubled last week as compared to teh previous week and although it is clear that members are watching the purse strings and spending less than they were a year ago, there is no doubt that the safety in numbers rule is hard at work within Ei42. Put simply, even though the average spend per user per month is lower when we compare April 2008 with April 2009 due to the size and strength of our membership the month on month spend continues to rise.
Ei42 in the USA
For those of you who are actively promoting to friends in the USA, I wanted to let you know that I do not intend to provide regular weekly updates on the growth of USA within this newsletter which is aimed at UK members. You will all see your own statistics in your admin areas and can monitor your own performance as you see fit. Suffice to say that although USA got of to a subdued start we can see the wheels now beginning to turn and the numbers are increasing steadily. At the moment (as was the case with the UK in the early days weeks and months) the actual customer spend is very low. This is no big surprise given the state of the USA economy at the moment. However, as Ei42 USA continues to grow its membership even if you do not see financial reward at the moment there is no doubt that as our respective economies improve and as we approach Christmas the numbers that are building now will convert to financial rewards for everyone involved. Always remember that Ei42 is not a get rich quick scheme. Real businesses never are.

You can either get yourself a free Ei42 shop and simply use it whenever you want to buy anything and you will earn personal commissions or if you wish you can tell your friends how they can save money and earn additional income from team commissions.
Many companies such as Sky TV, Orange and others pay you a commission to refer a friend to them, and of course you will be aware of supermarket loyalty cards. Ei42 works by combining both of these ideas.

Welcome back to what will now once again become a regular weekly newsletter.

I must apologise for the lack of recent contact but as I am sure you can appreciate things have been very hectic over the past few weeks with the launch of Ei42 into the USA and with the many other rather smaller but nonetheless significant improvements that we have been making.

I feel that we are now at a point in the development of Ei42 that we are polishing rather than building. This is a great position to be in because it is a clear indication on how far we have come in a little over a year and of how robust the platform that powers your Ei42 shopping network is.

So let’s start today’s newsletter by pointing out some of the polishing that we have been carrying out since the launch of Ei42 USA.

In your Admin Area (Click ADMIN from your Ei42 shop to access this)
You will now see your username, account number and joining date clearly displayed just below the welcome line after you login. You will also see there are now 4 referral URL’s available for you to use when telling your friends about Ei42. Next to each of the 4 URL’s you will see an information icon, simply hover your mouse over the icon for information on what each URL does.

New ‘SHOP’ URL
Some members had asked for the ability to promote their shops without the ability to show commissions or referral links. Naturally the best way to build Ei42 is by referral however there are clearly occasions where it may be advantageous for you to be able to promote a simple ‘shop’ and so we have made this feature available to you. You can access your ‘shop only’ version of Ei42 by simply appending /shop to your master URL. In your case you will find you shop here

Members Per Country
When you view friends from your admin area you will now see your membership numbers split and displayed by Country.

New Flash ‘How Ei42 Works’ Movie
If you have not recently visited the homepage of Ei42 can I suggest that you take a fresh look and check out the simple, short explanation on the power of Ei42. Simply go to www.Ei42.com and click the big PLAY button that you will find right in the middle of the screen. This is a great new tool for when you send new potential members to Ei42 as it helps them quickly understand the power of the social networking aspect of Ei42. For those of you who run your own websites after watching the movie you can grab the code to allow you to embed it into your own website should you wish to do so.

What’s next for Ei42?
With the UK and global economies not experiencing the best of times it is inevitable that sales overall in the high street and online may continue to fall for some time yet. It’s important to remember though that not everyone is feeling the credit crunch and the safety in numbers that comes along with being part of Ei42 multiplies the power of your own spending. One of the joys of Ei42 is that whatever happens in the general broader economy the fact is that Ei42 WILL be bigger tomorrow than it was yesterday. This is nothing to do with multi country Ei42, it’s just a simple fact that cannot be ignored. Some of you who have either not told any or not told many friends about Ei42 will not be seeing what is happening as Ei42 continues to grow exponentially. I urge you that if you are one of the people who is yet to ‘Tell a Friend’ about Ei42 that you do it now before someone else tells ‘YOUR’ friends.

USA
Some members have contacted me this week and said “we don’t know anyone in the USA” and asked for my response on this. My answer is simple ‘it doesn’t matter’ If you know people in the USA tell them about Ei42. If you do not know anyone in the USA then do not worry about it. There are about 30 million adults in the UK that are NOT members of Ei42 so I urge EVERYONE to continue to tell your UK friends about Ei42. In the scheme of things nobody knows about Ei42 yet which gives every one of you existing members enormous potential for growth right here in the UK.

This week’s newsletter contains some very important information about payments and the launch of Ei42 USA so please make sure you read through this and pass it on to any of your friends.
Payment Processing
There are still a few members who have not provided their full address. Can you please check that we have a full accurate UK address on file for you. The address MUST include a postcode. If we do not have an address with postcode on file we cannot pay you even if your payment method is set to Paypal so please login to your admin area and check that your details are correct.
You will also notice that payments have not yet been processed for March commissions, the reason for this is that as we are about to enter the new tax year we will be sending out end of year statements to everyone who has received a payment from Ei42 and so we have to wait for the year end to pass to be able to provide you with accurate information. Any money that you are due should still reach you on or before the 15th April as usual.
Charges for Payment by Cheque
Our terms & conditions state that we will charge a processing fee of £1 if you choose to be paid by cheque rather than via Bacs direct to your bank account. Until now we have not charged this fee to anyone who chose to be paid by cheque. We have held this position for 3 months since we the introduced the ability for you to be paid by Bacs. Please note that if you continue to choose payment by cheque we will as of the next payment processing date (May 1st 2009) be charging the £1 processing fee as per our terms & conditions. Any cheques being processed this month will not carry the processing fee. To change your payment method to receive payment from us via BACS direct to your bank account simply login to your account admin area and click the “Payment Preference” then select Bacs and provide your details. After Bacs details are saved they will not be visible in your admin area. For security purposes they are immediately deleted from our web servers. Please note that providing these details to us DOES NOT allow us to withdraw funds from your account. It only allows us to pay money into your account.
Launch of Ei42 into United States of America
Many of you will already have heard that the planned launch of Ei42 into America is finally upon us. At approximately 6pm this coming Wednesday the USA version of Ei42 will launch. This will allow you to promote Ei42 to your friends in the United States. In summary you will all have a UK and USA shop along with separate administration areas where you can manage individual payment methods for UK & USA. I will send a USA Launch newsletter out 1 hour before the official launch to make you all aware of the exact time. In addition that newsletter will explain the details of how the UK & USA systems integrate. The key elements are these
1. You will have the same account number and username in all countries and you will login in exactly the same way as you do now
2. You will be able to refer your friends in any country using the exact same method as you do now. When they join they will choose their home country
3. All members in your team in all countries will show within your administration dashboard in the View Friends section in exactly the same way as you see them now.
4. Income from the UK will earn you money in GBP, income from the USA will earn you money in USD.
5. The minimum level for payment in the UK remains at £20 and the minimum level for payment in the USA will be $20. These amounts are not connected they are totally separate payments and currencies.

Finally,
You may see a few things appear and disappear on your shops and admin area during the next couple of days while we carry out the final preparations for the launch. This is unavoidable and you may see things that appear not to work during this process. Rest assured it’s just us hammering the last few nails into place and we will let you know as soon as you can start promoting USA.

If you or anyone you know is using Ei42 for charity or fundraising then you can now apply to have the Ei42 ‘Authorised Charity’ or ‘Authorised Fundraiser’ logo added to your Ei42 shop. The faster you apply then the sooner we will be able to update your details so DO IT NOW.

New Country Launch

My first cheque from ei42

Below is a photo of my first cheque from ei42. So just for all the sceptics out there - it is real and it does work!

Now you may be thinking a cheque for £21.22 is not very much - Let me explain something...

It cost me nothing to join ei42, it cost me nothing to promote ei42 so that's £21.22 pure profit (apart form a little effort to tell a few friends about it)

5 years ago I joined another business (e-lottery) my first commission cheque from them was a little over £13. Now 5 years down the line I am one of the top 10 affiliates in the world for that business with a nice income to match.

New Social Network Giving Away Company Shares?

First, I'm not a huge fan of promoting a lot of social networking sites simply because I get emails just about every single day telling me that a new one just opened up. However, something about this one (called "Me2Everyone") caught my attention...

Me2Everyone's idea (giving away company shares) is probably the best and most fascinating promotion that I've seen on the internet in a very long time. One share today may be worth less than one cent. However, 1 share 3-4 years from now may be worth $.84 (eighty-four cents) or more. Today and until they have 100,000 members they are giving away 3,000 shares for each person you enroll. This is simply ingenious and I'm sure other professional marketers will agree.
That is not to count the 1,000 shares that you actually get for enrolling today. In other words, we all could possibly be earning over $2,500 per FREE member that we enroll today PLUS the $840 for enrolling (estimated value by December 2012). But even if their estimates are only "half right" then a person with zero dollars and just a little motivation could still make a fortune.

Yes, you may be thinking what I was thinking... "Once they hit 100,000 members it will fade away (stop growing)". How wrong I was. They will continue to give away shares but in a MUCH smaller volume. Shares for recruitung could drop from 3,000 to as little as only 10. THIS is why it is so urgent for the serious marketers to get in now while there is still time to capitalize on the BIG shares for recruiting.
Your next question may be, "What kind of authorized share capital do they have?"

Your answer is GBP £18,000,000 (approx. $26.3 million)
which equates to 18 billion shares (GBP £.001 per share).
Needless to say, that's quite a "chunk of change" to work with!
They plan to hit the London stock market by 2012 where of course a lot of trading will be going on. As the membership database rises, shares will begin to increase in value. There will also be a "market place" within the site where members can trade, buy and/or sell their shares.

Fraud Information
Over the last couple of weeks we have experienced a sharp increase in attempted fraud activity on Ei42. This is where certain members have attempted to abuse the goodwill of Ei42 and the retailers that we work with by attempting to earn rebates & commissions that are not justifiable.
Generally speaking this is impossible because you only receive a rebate if you actually buy something, but there are some exceptions. For example, requesting more than one brochure from Kitchens Direct on a single account, requesting 100's of free orange sim cards, ordering multiple insurance company brochures with no intention of ever buying anything.
The result of any member attempting to fraud the retailers working with Ei42 in this way reflects badly on us all. Retailers, such as Kitchen Direct do not have a problem with speculating that an adult in theUK ordering a brochure may have only a passing interest in ordering a new kitchen today, as long as they have 'some' genuine interest then they could well be a purchaser tomorrow and that is what business is all about.
What they nor Ei42 will tolerate is direct and blatant abuse. In reality what happens anyway is that a lot of pending commissions are simply rejected which in turn makes the honest and genuine majority think that something is going wrong with Ei42 when it is not.
As a result of the above abuse of our systems and goodwill, Ei42 today terminated the accounts of 56 members who we had identified as having been acting fraudulently. As a result some members (not all) will see a decrease (small or large) in the number of people in their team as displayed in the admin area.
Amazon
Amazon have today (26th January 2009) contacted a number of websites including Ei42 with the following statement.
Amazons Statement:

In order to keep the Associates Program viable for the long-term, we've concluded that we cannot continue our Association with rebate-oriented sites, and your account has therefore been closed:
Short Notice or what?
Yes we thought so too, but unfortunately there is absolutely nothing we can do about it and of course we are not alone. Ei42 apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but as you can see from the statement and lack of notice we are left with no alternative other than to remove this link. There are many other merchants on Ei42 that do offer and will continue to offer rebates to our growing membership for exactly the same products as you will find on Amazon and probably at better prices.
For those of you who run Ei42 as a business opportunity, I would like you to know that while I personally am very dissapointed that we have lost Amazon from Ei42, in reality it accounted for a very small percentage of revenue and rebates generated from Ei42 due to the very low commissions.

Legal Stuff
For legal reasons we have been advised to remove the income and team building estimators from Ei42.com and from your admin areas. I'm pretty confident that you all have a calculator so I'm sure you will be more than capable of working out your own estimates on the power of Ei42.

Happy New Year

Let’s start with a warm welcome to the 117 people who joined on Christmas Day

The first Newsletter of 2009 is slightly unconventional and a little long but I hope you find its contents useful.

Recently a member contacted me via the support desk with a question regarding the number of people that were ‘not’ joining his Ei42 team when he told them about the Free Ei42 opportunity. I won’t be revealing this members name but I hope he won’t mind me saying that in his opinion his efforts to promote Ei42 were failing. When I looked at his account I was astonished at this as clearly he was already a success story. Here is a summary of his position.

He joined Ei42 in September 2008, had introduced 14 people personally and had a total team of 27 people. All in 4 months. Clearly he had not failed, he had simply just got started and didn’t realise it. The main part of his question was this.....

His Question
“I have now got to a stage whereby any new sign ups do not seem to be happening and unfortunately I am thinking of only using EI42 as and when I wish to make a purchase myself rather than promoting it as a business”

My Answer
Thanks for your comments which I will try to answer openly and honestly, you say you are thinking of using Ei42 just for your own purchases and of course that is fine. One of the cornerstones of Ei42 is that we do not make our members do anything. All we ask is that you tell your friends about us, and of course some people choose to not even do that.

The plan for Ei42 is “so simple” that in truth many people you speak to will not believe it. It's a con, it's a scam, too good to be true, it won't work. It’s a pyramid scheme. I have heard all of the arguments and yet still every single day hundreds of people continue to join. One statistic that is fascinating to me is the forecast I made to everyone at the very beginning. I said that everyone should work on the basis that on average all sales will generate 1% of distributable income (worst case) that is 1% to the buyer and 1% to the network (after Ei42 has taken its margin) today almost a year later and with sales (not commissions) into the millions the actual average percentage is 2.11% to the buyer and 2.11% to the network more than DOUBLE what I told members to expect. In addition if I look at the total number of members today bearing in mind that some have been members a few hours, some days, weeks, months and a few for almost 1 year. The average spend PER MEMBER is £98.15, with 13 days left before the end of our first year we are on target for our members to achieve more than double my first year forecast. What I actually said was that the average household spends £940 per year on-line so if every member of Ei42 spends £100 PER YEAR then you'd get at least 1% yourself plus the distribution from your network. I also made it very clear this is not nor will it ever be a get rich quick deal. (Legal things never are)

So, what would I do if I were you? The first thing I would do is stop and review where I was. Firstly I'd review my front-line people who had already got front-line people themselves. Your first objective is simple. You need to build a team of 5 people who each have 5 people and then "help" "nudge" "remind" them to do the same. So Pick 5 people, some could be your existing people or they could all be new people but make a plan "my job is to get 5 people" and every time you get a new member pass that simple message on. "If you are joining Ei42 your job is to get 5 people... pass it on:-)" Once you have built a solid working 5 x 5 x 5 (you told 5 and your 5 told 5 each) then start a new 5. This way you can keep focused on helping your friends build their team of 5.

One other thing. You have been a member of Ei42 for about 4 months. If you had spent £250,000 on a McDonald's franchise 4 months ago you would be a LONG way from profit and you certainly would not be considering closing it and just using it as a place where you and your family could just go to eat.

Stick with it, be patient, it will take time but it's free and it will work. It’s a bit like losing weight we all want it now but if the target is 1 year away it becomes achievable.

And Finally
After a lengthy discussion about Ei42 in the Pub over the festive period with a group of friends, one couple said that they “couldn’t really be bothered with Ei42 as you could only earn pennies” so I asked them if they had a Tesco Club Card to which they answered Yes. So I asked them... "Why? it only pays 1p for every £1 you spend... surely it’s not worth bothering?”

I would rather earn 1% off a 100 people's efforts than 100% of my own efforts. John D. Rockefeller

Christmas Sales Volume
A few members have asked me about my thoughts on the volume of sales achieved over the festive period and on the general economic climate in which we are trading. I think without a doubt online sales have been affected and that we have not achieved the volume of sales that we may have expected when we were looking into our crystal ball back in June. The reality is that shops in the high street have had to slash prices in order to sell the stock that they had on the shelves. As a result many of us that would have loved to buy more online and get goods delivered to our door were seduced into buying in the high street stores, and who can blame anyone for that. Ei42 is not meant to be about ‘making’ anyone buy everything via Ei42 it is about working together to benefit us all and we have certainly achieved that.
Out of the negative of reduced sales comes the huge positive of ‘Increased opportunity’. Unfortunately many people are facing a reduced income in 2009 for a variety of reasons and circumstances. Whilst we would not profess to be able to offer an instant solution to anyone’s financial problems, the reality is that even in the hardest of times we all still have to buy things. Ei42 offers the opportunity to buy many things with a small rebate attached and the opportunity to build a business alongside whatever else you do. If you have not yet read the new admin guide and commission plan I highly recommend that you do so as it will help you be better prepared to discuss the Ei42 opportunity with your friends over Christmas.

New Stuff
Payment History (Admin Area)
You’ll now find a new section within your admin area called payment history, naturally, if you have not yet received a payment there will be no relevant data in this area but as you receive payments from Ei42 you will find a total history of all of your payments in this new section.
Payment Preferences (Admin Area)
You’ll also find a new section where you can amend your chosen method for payment. We can now offer you payment via BACS direct to your chosen bank account as well as payment by cheque or PayPal. Simply provide your details in the secure form from within your admin area.
Peel Away Adverts (Your Shop & Ei42.com)

You will have noticed that we had added a peel away advert on your Ei42 shop and also on the main site at Ei42.com, these allow members to join your team in exactly the same way as before but in a much more eye catching manner. For those interested in the technical aspect these are created using flash. If a user does not have flash installed on their PC they will see the old static versions of the referral links.

Missing Commissions
If commissions appear to be missing you will still be able to submit those missing commission requests into the helpdesk. Please note however that due to the holiday closures across all agencies no missing commission will be dealt with until after Monday 4th January 2009. If you do submit a missing commission ticket after 12 noon on Wednesday 24th Dec you will receive an acknowledgement notice and your query will be queued until 4th Jan.

I heard on the news today that online sales are up by 16% on the same time last year. Shoes, accessories and alcohol being the most popular items. Here's some of what was said...

Consumers are avoiding the high street in favour of bargains on the internet.

Four out of five people have said they will avoid the High Street at some point and shop online as belts tighten and bargain hunting begins before Christmas.

Mike Petevinos, head of retail consulting at Capgemini UK, said of the latest figures: "The Christmas spirit is with us, but it seems clear that shoppers are being more considered than ever in making their generosity fit their budgets.

"The current climate is causing consumers to turn to the internet to help them make more informed value decisions and purchases."

IMRG chief executive James Roper added: "While we would naturally expect to see a monthly increase in online sales during this time of the year, it is perhaps surprising that we are continuing to see yearly growth during these otherwise difficult times for retailers.

"This is a sure sign that high street retailers should look to diversify their activities by fully embracing the online space, as their customers have."

Last year, more than three and a half million people across the UK were expected to shop online on Christmas Day.

Experts predicted most people would log on after the Queen's Speech to buy goods and services

This is all good news for all ei42 members, as predicted online sales are increasing and we need to spread the word about ei42 and just how much extra money can be saved in addition to that already on offer by retailers.

• 90 per cent of retail spending is still done in the traditional way, namely in shops, according to Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG). Which means the market is still uptapped with only 10% of people shopping online there is a massive market opening up, just look at the growth of online shopping.

• 17p in every £1 of retail spending this year was accounted for by internet shopping, compared with 15p last year. Another growth statistic.

• 20 per cent year-on-year growth is being experienced by the John Lewis website, while the group's out-of-town shops have reported dips in sales. Another growth statistic.

• £26.5 billion in online sales was reported in the first six months of this year.

• 8-10pm is expected to be the busiest time for online shopping on Christmas Day.

• 25-40-year-old women are the target market for firms selling lingerie online.

Legislation
Over the last few months we have been working with our lawyers and the Direct Selling Association to ensure that we are fully compliant with all of the current and recently introduced new laws here in the UK. I am pleased to be able to advise you that we have now completed all of the changes required by the introduction of the new legislation.
Direct Selling Association

Partly as a result of these changes we have now applied for Full Membership of the Direct Selling Association, this is not a simple procedure and as many of you will know the DSA is one of the most respected organisations in the area of sales. This respect is due in a very large part to the fact that you cannot simply “pay & join” the Direct Selling Association. There is a rigorous vetting procedure along with a strict code of ethics that must be adhered to by all members . We are currently at the application stage for Full Membership and hope to be accepted as Full Members very soon.
Latest Changes to Your Ei42
We now call ‘Personal Commissions’ ‘Personal Rebates’ which better reflects what you actually personally receive from your own purchases. Team commissions remain unchanged.
You’ll find a new link to the latest terms and conditions within your own admin area. This was always on every other page of Ei42 but from your admin area it is now personalised to you. From here you can print, sign and keep a copy for your records. If you are a new member within the last 7 days you will have received a copy attached as a pdf to your welcome email as well.
Joining Form
The new joining form now has options for Personal, Company/Club/Organisation and Registered Charity along with the option to simply get an Ei42 shop and never refer any friends although we are not sure why anyone would do that, it is now an available option. It’s all very straightforward and you can simply click “Join Now” on www.ei42.com to see the changes for yourself.

The main website now has a clearer explanation under ‘SHOP’ to show how simple it is to use Ei42, and the income estimator has been removed and replaced with a Team Building estimator to demonstrate the power of recommending Ei42 to friends as we felt that estimating income might make people think Ei42 was a get rich quick scheme which it certainly is not.
FAQ’s

We originally had some issues with the order in which FAQ’s were listed. The problem was that the ones that were most important to New Members were not at the top of the list. This has now been rectified and I would urge everyone to spend a few minutes reading through the FAQ’s as they can be very helpful.
Marketing Material
All of the old marketing material has been removed from the download area. In part this was due to some of it not meeting the new legislation. Rest assured new and better material will be available very soon.
Commission Structure Change
Since Ei42 launched on February 1st 2008, many of our members have asked us about why we set the commission structure as we did through the levels 1 to 7. The truthful answer was that we believed at the launch that we had created the best solution for the long term. Hindsight is though a wonderful thing and of course when we started with just 18 members it’s very difficult to do anything other than ‘guess’ what will be best for the majority. The guessing is over though because now we have tens of thousands of members and a huge amount of data along with a lot of feedback from you our members. We have therefore taking the decision to change the Commission Plan as of 1st January 2009 and we hereby give you the required notice of this change.
So what will the affect be?
Over 98% of the current members will be earning more money from Ei42 after January 1st 2009. Naturally there will be a few losers in the short term but the long term benefits are clear to see and I am confident that those affected in the short term will be able to see those long term benefits. These changes also serve to simplify the plan and make it more easily understood by all.
The new structure from January 1st 2009 will be
Power 1 – 12.5%
Power 2 – 12.5%
Power 3 – 12.5%
Power 4 – 12.5%
Power 5 – 12.5%
Power 6 – 12.5%
Power 7 – 25.0%

Clarification

ALL SALES, up to and including any processed up to Midnight on December 31st 2008 will be calculated using the CURRENT commission plan.
ALL SALES after Midnight on January 1st 2009 will be processed using the NEW commission plan as seen above and a copy of which will be available for download in the Helpdesk Download area from tomorrow.

ei42 latest update and other ramblings

I received an email a couple of days ago from someone who didn't have much to say except "ei42 is a scam" This of course got me angry, worried and confused.

Did he know something I didn't? Was he right? No of course not but I was intrigued. Why was he saying ei42 was a scam? I had to find out more.

I replied to his email and asked why he thought ei42 was a scam, the reply I got was "It just is" - WOW! He knows about scams and can say it just is without justifying his statement! (sorry sarcasm is the lowest form of wit - but still funny)

I wrote back and asked him if he thought that such top high street retailers such as PC World, Debenhams, HMV, Argos, Tesco, Currys etc would be involved in anything that wasn't 100% legit. I didn't get a reply but what I did get next was quite amazing - He joined ei42!

Looking through my friends lists at the new people who had joined I instantly recognised his email address. I can only assume he took the time to look at ei42 properly and decided he was wrong about the scam thing! Sure I will find out as we talk more once he has had time to settle into ei42.

So if you get anyone telling you they think ei42 is a scam, I can only suggest you use that statement above as your reply! - It worked for me...

Very disappointing, so far not one member of the team has bothered to go there and even say hello.I know we all lead busy lives, especially at this time of year (I can only assume you have all been too busy using your ei42 shop to buy your Christmas pressies!)

I have been in networking for over 20 years and have built large teams in other businesses so I know a little about it. If you want to do the same, you have to do a little bit of work!

As I said previously, it will only work if we ALL participate!

Christmas shopping

ei42 is an amazing opportunity to build large teams of people who will all save money on their online purchases and you can earn a commission on all of them, we all know that but...

Only if they actually use their ei42 shop. You can have a team of 10,000 friends in ei42 but if none of them use their ei42 shop then you will earn NOTHING. That's why it's important to remind the people YOU introduced to ei42 about using their shop, especially at this time of year.

Let them know about the advantages, help them set up ei42 as their home page, encourage them - Many may not have thought of doing ALL their Christmas shopping online.

Just a thought, but how about targeting ebay users who send a lot of parcels, ebay power sellers or what ever they call them. These people send a lot of parcel every week, why not offer them the chance to save money by joining ei42 and using a service such as parcel2go.com

Consolidation by Retailers
In these uncertain times it is not surprising that many retailers are consolidating their positions in many areas. The way Ei42 works with these retailers is not entirely unaffected by these changes however we are all in a unique position in as much as there is always safety in numbers and there are now a lot of us!

One change is that whereas in the past retailers often worked with multiple agencies. we are now seeing many of them cease their relationship with the multi agency approach and focus their efforts into a single agency. As we at Ei42 have strong relationships with all of the major agencies this does not present us with a problem and to you as an end user the reality is that you simply will not even notice this happening.

Pending to Approved
One of the major changes of the past couple of months has been in the way sales and commissions are structured through the payment process. Historically, depending on which agency the retailers were working with would mean that each one had a different timescale for the timeframe from purchase through to pending and then approved commission. Whilst this has not been entirely rectified, as there will always be some exceptions, we now have something much closer to an easy to understand process. Generally speaking this is what now happens when you make a purchase;

You click a link on your Ei42 shop and make a purchase from any of the 1500 retailers and usually within 72 hours a commission will appear in your account with a status of ‘pending’ (some such as insurance/finance can take much longer)

An order placed in any calendar month will remain pending for the whole of that month. During the first 10 days of the month after the purchase was made the retailer will do one of 3 things with your commission.

Approve
Reject
Leave as Pending

If the status is changed to approved then that amount of money will be moved from pending to your approved commissions. If rejected you will see that commission as a reversal in your account. Rejections/Reversals can happen for a number of reasons for example you may have returned an item or cancelled an item ,in which case a rejection will be seen in your account. When a retailer leaves a commission in the status of pending it does not mean that it will not be approved. It simply means that the retailer has not yet confirmed this commission. One common reason for that to happen is for example if you bought something on the 25th of the month and the item had a 14 day returns policy.

Next week I will have news on the release of further improvements that we have been working on for Ei42 and an update on what we have planned for 2009.
